The Nurgle’s Choice Award is a monthly scheme concocted to replace the usual style of competition. The problem with competitions is that they require too much focus on your entry, possibly to the detriment of your "hobby time."
With so many varied and interesting things being posted in the forum’s Corrupt Creations board, it seemed daft not to take advantage of it and have a more relaxed form of contest. Quite simply the Nurgle’s Choice Award (or NCA) involves the members of the forum nominating and voting for their favorite piece that has been posted during the past month.
The winner for June’s NCA was Pake for his work in progress Baneblade:
It might seem odd for an unfinished model to come out on top, but that’s the cool thing about the NCA; it’s more than just a painting competition!
The beautifully painted track section shows a great use of weathering, rust and battle-damage techniques as well as being a prime example of an "old school" white Deathguard colour scheme. Above all this though it shows a great example of things to come and is truly inspirational!
Now that we’re over halfway into July there are plenty of great new posts for us all to nominate for an award, but it’s worth hanging on till nearer the end of the month before making your mind up and then taking a look back at people’s efforts and progress over the month as a whole.
Hopefully, the NCA will establish itself as a highlight of the Papanurgle community, and at the end of the year we’ll be able to look back and choose the best of the best in a special contest.
